Clay Target Shooting

Georgia Tuner and Bryn Mair competed at TAURANGA BOYS COLLEGE INTER COLLEGIATE SHOOT held at TECT Park Tauranga Thursday 17th September. There was solid shooting as detailed in the following scores

Bryn-B: 17/20, 47/60, 5/10

Georgia: 18/20, 53/60, 9/10

Georgia's high score resulted in an equal 4th place Overall girls.

The team of 2 have grown in confidence over the past 7 months with the consistency reflected by competitive results across the MET Club/School Shoots, a big thanks to Ian Clarke's fun filled coaching sessions.

We are very proud of the results Bryn & Georgia have achieved in their first year of competing.

The school shooting season has now ended, with the Wednesday night coaching sessions ongoing.

Please touch base if you're interested.

Auckland Year 7&8 Cross Country Championships

On Friday 28th August we had seven students representing our school and Franklin at Auckland Champs. This event is made up of nine regional zones with 10 students selected per year level and gender. Making it through to the Auckland event is a huge achievement, well done and congratulations to our students.

“This year I was lucky enough to compete at Auckland Champs Cross-Country which was a great experience. The event was held at the Kumeu showgrounds, it was a reasonably flat course with one small incline at the start. We, the year sevens, did a 1km circuit three times and the year eights did an extra 500m at the start of their race. Before it started I was nervous but as soon as the race started my nerves fell away and were replaced with burning legs. There were many different schools and I knew a lot of runners from playing other sports, which made the day really fun. Out of approximately 90 competitors I finished seventh! That was a big achievement for me because I do not do running as a sport and was competing with top athletes in Auckland. I thought it was a good result. I was also really proud of the other runners from St Ignatius who gave their all and did really well. Thank you to Mrs Compston and the other parents who took us to the event so we could compete.” - James Ronald

New Zealand Secondary Schools Weightlifting Championships

“On the 6th September I had the chance to compete in my 4th competition mainly being my 3rd Secondary schools one I was very proud of the fact that I had made two new PBs (personal best) I was also amazed by how many people there were to support everyone even kids people didn't know! I was very happy to come away with a gold medal and new techniques that my coach Georgia had given me. Overall I was happy with my performance. It really felt like all that training had paid off! “ Emma McRae
