Koroneihana 2026

On Thursday 3rd September, a contingent from the Auckland Diocese travelled to Tūrangawaewae to attend Koroneihana and acknowledge and celebrate Te Arikinui Kuini Māori Ngā Wai Hono i te Pō. This included 10 students from St Ignatius.

The first day centres on Ngā Kawe Mate o Tainui Waka, welcoming and acknowledging the Tainui waka as they mourn those who have passed over the past year.

Our school values its relationship with tangata whenua, and participating in significant occasions such as Koroneihana provides an opportunity to acknowledge this relationship and embrace kotahitanga.
