Filipino Language Week

Over the course of the week we had the privilege of celebrating Filipino Language Week for the very first time as a school. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate Filipino language, culture and traditions. Throughout the week, our ākonga proudly wore traditional Filipino cultural attire, sang the Philippine National Anthem during assembly, and created parol, traditional Filipino lanterns that are widely used during the Christmas season.

We were also treated to Tinikling performances, showcasing a traditional Filipino folk dance, as well as a Filipino Food Festival, where our ākonga had the opportunity to experience and enjoy a range of Filipino flavours. One of the most special parts of the week was seeing our Filipino ākonga proudly embrace their culture and learn more about their heritage. Their enthusiasm and willingness to celebrate their identity created a wonderful sense of connection and belonging across our school. A huge thank you to all of the students involved for sharing their culture with such pride and to their parents and whānau for their support and encouragement. Your contributions helped make this celebration a truly memorable one, and we look forward to continuing to grow and celebrate the richness of Filipino culture within our school community in the years to come.

Maraming salamat!

This week our school was able to hold our first ever Filipino language week! Our celebration was filled with music, delicious food, and plenty of opportunities to come together and celebrate Filipino culture. It was so wonderful to see students come together and learn something new, experiencing the warmth and richness of our culture. This week was a lot of fun and created many joyful memories for everyone involved. Thank you to everyone who contributed,  volunteered, prepared food, and helped bring this celebration to live. Your time, energy, and support has made this language week truly special. Most importantly, this celebration reminded us of the joy that comes from sharing our culture, language, and traditions with one another. We look forward to many more wonderful events and celebrations in the future, continuing to celebrate as one school community. Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat!
