Cook Island Language Week
Celebrating Cook Islands Language Week- A Week of Culture, Creativity and Celebration
This week, our school proudly celebrated Cook Islands Language Week with a wonderful range of activities that brought our community together to learn, celebrate, and appreciate the rich culture and traditions of the Cook Islands.
Our celebrations began with a Staff Sarong Challenge, followed by a special acknowledgement at our whole-school assembly. Throughout the week, students and staff enthusiastically took part in a variety of cultural experiences. Dance and Donuts on Tuesday was a huge hit, with plenty of dancing, laughter, and delicious donuts enjoyed by all. On Wednesday, students and staff loved creating beautiful Ei Katu (traditional floral head garlands), while Thursday's art and craft activities showcased the creativity and talents of our students.
We finished the week on a high with a special visit from a parent volunteer, who shared the joy of traditional Cook Islands dance and drumming, giving students an authentic and memorable cultural experience.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making Cook Islands Language Week such a vibrant and successful celebration. It was wonderful to see our school community embrace the spirit of the week with such enthusiasm, respect, and joy.
